Слизни. У них нет имён, личности, воли. Обычные, не самые опасные монстры. Абсолютно все процессы в жизни слизня до смешного примитивны. Рождение, из женской особи, вместе с сотнями таких же, как он. Этим они напоминают пчел. Дальше, слизень растет, пожирая любую органику: мелкие звери, растения и т.д. После того, как окреп, он может напрямую стать членом “общества” слизней, главная задача которых — найти пропитание в виде уставших путников, караванов, изредка небольших деревень. В итоге жизнь слизня сводится к цепочке родиться-укрепление-вред человеку-смерть от рук человека. Поскольку их тело почти полностью состоит из слизи, их настоящее время жизни может составлять сотни лет. Но слизень является долгожителем, если дожил хотя бы до 40, с учетом охоты людей на них. Это был совершенно обычный слизень, ничем не отличавшийся от других. Он был 214-ым у своей матери, прожил всего 18 лет, особой силой никогда не отличался. Совершенно обычный слизень, в такой же, казалось бы, совершенно обычный день, переживший многое. Люди объявили масштабную войну против слизней, т.к. те грабили караваны с припасами на зиму. Это был рейд сотен охотников. Естественно, группу 214-го это не обошло. Все умерли. Все, кроме него. Ему удалось выжить по счастливой случайности и невнимательности противников, занятых убийством его собратьев. Он убежал в лес. Там наш герой почувствовал то, что должно было стать его спасением от голодной смерти: кровь. Чем ближе он был к источнику запаха, тем сильнее был его голод. Как только он нашел источник и принялся поглощать кровь, всё изменилось. Всё. Кровь содержала огромное количество маны, она не сравнится с человеческой. Это была кровь эльфа. От переизбытка маны тело 214-го начало эволюционировать. То, что получилось по итогу, сложно назвать слизнем. Да и монстром в целом. У 214-го появилось то, что в большинстве своем отличает людей от монстров: разум. сознание, понимание и эмоции. Это то, на что теперь способен 214-й. Такая нагрузка для него стала чуть ли не смертельной, но трагедии не случилось. После небольшого шока, 214-ый перевел взгляд на эльфа, лежащего около. Тот был истощен и ранен. И вот, 214-го посетила его первая в жизни мысль: «Ему недолго осталось…» Эльф начал смеяться, после чего сказал полушепотом фразу, задающую еще больше вопросов: — «Я наконец сделал это! Рубик больше не будет страдать, ха-ха… Эй, слизняк! Пока я жив, поглоти меня!» Подобная фраза ввела 214-го в шок, он еще не понимал, что такое эмоции, логика, здравомыслие и т.д. Подобное показалось ему дикостью, но он подошел к эльфу вплотную. — «Ты понял? Ха-ха… Какой умный мальчик… Я всегда хотел быть кем-то… Как великий Рубик может умереть никем? Это разбивает мне сердце, ха-ха…. Мне хотелось бы хотя-бы в конце своей жизни… сделать что-нибудь хорошее. Пожалуйста, поглоти меня.» 214-й не понимал природу собственных эмоций, но он, как-будто, понял его. Это было первой полноценной эмоцией для него — сострадание. Он лег на грудь эльфа, на что тот просто обнял его и шепотом сказал: — «Только…. не очень больно… ладно?...» После чего, 214-й выполнил его просьбу. При помощи мимикрии принял облик того эльфа и сказал себе: «О добродетели Рубике узнает весь мир! Никто не забудет тебя!». Возможно, на это повлияли воспоминания тела, а возможно, это было самостоятельным решением нынешнего “Рубика”, выполнить мечту его предшественника. И вот он Рубик, сидит перед вами на трансляциях, смеётся, злится, кричит, шепчет и всё это ради того чтобы ваша улыбка была ярче всех!

Everyone died. Everyone except him. He managed to survive by a happy accident and the inattention of opponents engaged in the murder of his brethren. He ran off into the woods. There our hero felt what was supposed to be his salvation from starvation: blood. The closer he was to the source of the smell, the stronger his hunger was. As soon as he found the source and began to absorb the blood, everything changed. Everything. The blood contained a huge amount of mana, it couldn't compare to a human's. It was the blood of an elf. From an overabundance of mana, the body of the 214th began to evolve. What happened in the end, it is difficult to call a slug. And a monster in general. The 214th has something that for the most part distinguishes people from monsters: intelligence. consciousness, understanding and emotions. This is what the 214th is now capable of. Such a load became almost fatal for him, but the tragedy did not happen. After a little shock, the 214th turned his gaze to the elf lying near. He was exhausted and wounded. And so, on the 214th, his first thought in his life visited him: "He won't have long left..." The elf began to laugh, after which he said in a half—whisper a phrase asking even more questions: - "I finally did it! Rubik won't suffer anymore, haha… Hey, slug! While I'm alive, devour me!" Such a phrase shocked the 214th, he still did not understand what emotions, logic, sanity, etc. were. It seemed wild to him, but he came close to the elf.

• "Do you understand? Haha... what a smart boy… I've always wanted to be someone… How can the great Rubik die a nobody? It breaks my heart, haha.... I would like at least at the end of my life... to do something good. Please devour me." 214 did not understand the nature of his own emotions, but he seemed to understand him. This was the first full—fledged emotion for him - compassion. He lay down on the elf's chest, to which the elf simply hugged him and whispered:

Perhaps it was influenced by the memories of the body, or perhaps it was an independent decision of the current “Rubik” to fulfill the dream of his predecessor. And here he is Rubik, sitting in front of you on the broadcasts, laughing, angry, shouting, whispering, and all this in order for your smile to be the brightest!
