Anima Spero

Anima Spero, or simply Anima or Spero, is a male Virtual YouTuber from the Philippines. He began his streaming journey in mid-2020 on Facebook Gaming, showcasing his passion for PC games. Later, he moved to YouTube to share his adventures in PlayStation 4 games, before finally making Twitch his primary platform in July 2022.

Anima is a variety gamer, he primarily streams battle royale titles such as Apex Legends, Naraka Bladepoint, and Farlight 84. Known for his screams, Anima has become iconic for his reactions in horror games like Phasmophobia, Lethal Company, and Inside the Backrooms—though he’s just as loud even when it’s not horror. In addition to his love for competitive and spooky titles, he explores survival games like Valheim, V Rising, and The Forest, and occasionally shares his passion for Dungeons & Dragons by streaming his tabletop adventures.

Anima started as a PNGTuber, using a cartoonized version of his IRL self in a Spyro Onesie. Over time, he introduced multiple PNGs and GIFs for his streams. On April 9, 2023—his birthday—Anima debuted his official 2.0 PNG, where he took the form of a full-body humanoid dragon designed by loleh (@loleh_rai). This was followed by the debut of his Live2D chibi model on April 13, 2024, based on the 2.0 design, with art by Teal (@tealmellon) and rigging by Mars (@Marschan_13).

On June 13, 2024, Anima revealed Corpus Despero, a new original character and a bold and NSFW-friendly opposite take of Anima, also designed by loleh (@loleh_rai).

There once was a little human boy, he loved the sky. He would spend hours lying on grassy hills, watching the clouds float by and dreaming of flying through the endless blue. He wanted to feel the wind rushing past him, to be free like the birds, and to live among the stars. Along with his love for the sky, he was fascinated by dragons—powerful creatures said to rule the skies with grace and strength. He dreamed of meeting one someday and maybe even flying on its back.

One day, he decided to chase his dream of becoming a dragon himself. He traveled far and wide, through mountains, deserts, and oceans, facing storms, wild animals, and loneliness. When he was about to give up, he met a glowing Celestial Dragon, a great being of wisdom and power. The dragon offered him a chance to become one with the skies, but only if he could pass a difficult trial. He climbed the tallest mountain, facing danger at every step, but he never gave up. At the peak, the dragon god rewarded him by transforming him into a its kin. Wings grew from his back, his skin became tough scales, and he could finally fly.

With his transformation, he was granted a new name—Anima Spero, meaning Soul’s Hope—but it came with great responsibilities. He was entrusted to rule over the domain of souls, guarding and guiding all connected to it. Though the weight of his duty is immense, his heart is filled with hope, for he knows he was born to fly.

Millennia after Anima embraced his life as a dragonkin and became the guardian of souls, he faced an encounter that changed everything. While tending to the souls in his care, he came across an unusual soul among the glowing orbs of souls- swirling soul darkened by sinister hues. Despite its ominous nature, Anima reached out with compassion, only to realize it was a Vitio, a malevolent entity of corruption. The Vitio struck swiftly, infiltrating his soul and twisting his emotions, tainting his once-bright essence with shadow. Twisted by darkness, his thoughts became clouded, and his vibrant spirit began to fade, threatening not only himself but the souls he vowed to protect.

In a desperate act of bravery, Anima summoned all his strength and tore his soul in two, separating the corrupted part from the light within him. This agonizing act unleashed a cosmic explosion that reverberated across the world. His once-mighty form was diminished, leaving him in a small, chibi-like state and from the fractured piece of his soul emerged Corpus, a being that embodied his darkest impulses and shadowed nature. Though guilt and sorrow weighed heavy on Anima, he saw a glimmer of hope. Together, Anima and Corpus began an intertwined journey of redemption and self-discovery, learning to navigate the delicate balance between light and darkness within their shared fate.
